Retail picking up this year

The "buzz" appears to be that this will be a strong holiday retail season. The site listed in the link shows major holiday retailers are seeing a big spike in shopping already (see link).

PurelyAlpaca.com is also seeing a big increase in sales over last year. It appears it will be a very busy shopping season.

PurelyAlpaca offers a wide range of rather limited items. The majority of our products are limited run Naturally Unique items from alpaca fiber artists and designers. We encourage you to shop early when you see an item of interest. Last year, most of our specialty inventory sold out early. We expect this to happen even sooner this year.

Shop early, before Dec 10 and mention this article and we will enclose a free alpaca gift item with your order.

Happy Holidays!

Ponchos are HOT this season

If you check the fashion news like we do you'll see that this is the year of the poncho. We're seeing them everywhere. Online, TV, magazines, etc. This morning we say one on a little girl in a coffee shop!

If you're a beginning knitter, alpaca ponchos are an easy and satifying item to create. And with alpaca, people will touch and touch and be amazed at the softness, comfort and elegance of your new project.

See the About.com knitting site for some easy to create poncho ideas:

If you are not a knitter take a look at our cable knit poncho offerings on the site:

Lastly, if YOU are a knitter and have produced an amazing item that you might want to see if it would sell, contact us. We feature alpaca fiber works from many artists and would be interested in discussing having your items showcased on PurelyAlpaca.com

Happy knitting!

Joys of Knitting Alpaca

If you are a knitter, or know someone who is, alpaca yarns are a blessing to use. Most knitters we have met had not tried alpaca as a knitting yarn. Once they did, they discovered the amazing characteristics or softness, strength and comfort.

Some now tell us then can't touch wool anymore because as one knitter put it, "'cause it feels like sandpaper to me now!".

If you are new to knitting, there are a great number of sources on the web to help you. One we really like is from About.com. About.com talks "about" all kinds of things from politics to pastries. The knitting page is excellent and has ideas for the new and experienced knitter. Check it out at http://knitting.about.com.

See our yarns listed at: http://purelyalpaca.com/index.php/cPath/35
We have a large number of completely unique yarns which are not on the site due to their limited numbers. Contact us and we will describe them to you but basically we have hand spun, hand dyed, mixes (silk, etc) and experimental products. We also carry raw fiber, processed rovings (for spinners) and batts (for quilting). We're expecting to have processed alpaca felt cloth as well, great for felt hats and other unique creations.

Check back with us over the next month to see new yarns which will get put on the site, or contact us (yarn@purelyalpaca.com)and get on the yarns notification list.
