How was your National Alpaca Farm Day?

National Alpaca Farm Day is coming this weekend! We're very curious about how it will go both for our own farm and nationally.

It's been a pretty positive development in the national alpaca community as far as I can see, though I'm sure someone somewhere will fine reasons to not like it :(

How was YOUR National Alpaca Farm Day event? If you used products (ours and/or others) did they help you promote the animals? We've often found the products are a GREAT conversation piece as they show directly "what alpacas do for a living". It's also a positive way to earn some farm income.

Feel free to post your comments on your experiences with National Alpaca Farm Day. Pictures would be GREAT if you have em! Post as comments here, email me or join the new

Brian, I really wish I had ordered more products from you to display at NAFD. This weekend went great. I ordered the NAFD kit you offered and sold everything in the kit on Sat. It was a good thing I had plenty of yarn, from my alpacas, to show and sell on Sunday. We had 132 people sign our guest book and at least that many that didn't sign. Again the NAFD kit went really fast. Thanks

This was our first time ever showing our alpacas to the public, as we only began alpaca farming last summer. We only have six alpacas, however we figure at least 150 people turned up at our farm. Everyone had a great time, they loved learning about the alpacas, and feeding the animals. We set up the farm day kit just outside the corral, and everyone who came stopped to see (and feel) the products. We live in the country, so the mens socks (hunting season) sold right away. We could have sold lots more of them. The finger puppets were a hit with the kids. I was shocked that the mitts and glittens didn't sell, I think people here were surprised by the price. It must have been 75 degrees that day, so maybe they will sell once it gets a bit colder. We found the price of the books and the little figurines expensive, however the quality of everything else was a-one! We thank you for the kit, we wouldn't have been able to buy a small variety of product like this from anyone else.

Our NAFD was a great deal of fun. we had around 70-80 people and many smiles.

The high point was the 2 grandparents with 10 young grandaughters all here to see the alpacas!

Rain slowed things on Sunday but we sold quite a few items on both days.

Looking forward to next year!

We were so excited about NAFD! We are a small farm of 13 suris, and put a lot of planning into this event. We opened up our farm on Sunday, as Saturday was already booked with life events. We only had 3 sets of people come, but it was educational not only for them, but for us as well. We will advertise locally next year. Your products were a hit! It really brought the idea of alpacas full circle to interested parties. I had coloring pages and crayons for the kids, suri cookies, the suri network video playing for education, and cold drinks for a hot day. Our Great Pyrenees, Miata, was a complete hit as well!

Heather,
That's great! I've always felt an alpaca without alpaca products is just lacking.

The animals produce WONDERFUL fiber and all of us who are promoting alpacas need to promote their fiber.

It's great to see your alpaca products were a hit and that you enjoyed yourself.

Best of luck with your next event!
