Motorcycling Alpacas?

Ok, I have two loves that have been in my life a LONG time. Alpacas and Motorcycles! Kind of an odd mix you might think but oddly, they seem to go together very well!  Though usually I can be seen riding a large touring motorcycle through the Western half of the USA, last year I combined the two loves like never before as we rode a 650cc Suzuki V-Strom (a "WeeStrom") motorcycle through the beautiful country of Ecuador!

Ecuador Alpaca Research Trip

We hope it will inspire you to go there! The people are nice, climate is pleasant and there's just soooo much to see in this tiny country the size of Colorado. They use the U.S. dollar as their currency. How easy is that!? If you are interested in travel in Ecuador, by motorcycle or otherwise, please ask us for info! We'll be happy to share tips and ideas.

We spent 10 days on the road and covered a large amount of the high mountains which is alpaca country in Ecuador. Being at the top of mountains in Spring we got to test out a lot of our cold weather gear and rain gear! We had alpaca gloves, alpaca hats, alpaca socks, alpaca scarves, alpaca long johns(!), alpaca vests and alpaca blankets. For the adventure motorcyclist, alpaca is ideal! It's natural, warm, resists moisture, resists odor and is naturally soft, comfortable and durable. We surely put our gear to the test!

Though I can wear the SAME alpaca socks for days on end without "offending", a quick wash in the sink and a rapid air dry (it does not hold water) and they are 100% ready to go again.  Many of our motorcycling friends and customers wear our Choice Brand Superwarm alpaca socks and OutdoorAdventure alpaca socks for road trips.
